Free domain
All our webhotels include free registration or transfer of the first .dk, .com, .net, .org or .eu domain.
IDN-domains
It has become possible to register domains with international characters such as æ, ø, å or ü. However, you should be aware that these domains are actually converted to something called punycode (the domain is called an IDN-domain). This means that if you order the domain “domæne.dk” the real domain is actually “xn--domne-ura.dk” – not exactly pretty!
All modern browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome etc.) are fully compatible with IDN-domains, so for a website they are just as good as “traditional” domains without international characters.
But very few e-mail clients are compatible, so in order to receive mail on an IDN-domain you would have to give people your address in punycode. In other words your e-mail address might be “peter@xn--domne-ura.dk”. Therefore we recommend to always order at least one domain without international characters, and using this as the primary domain for e-mail. E-mail support for IDN-domains is likely to improve over the next couple of years.
.dk-domains and DK-hostmaster
All .dk-domains are handled by DK-hostmaster. They are also the ones who will bill you after the first year of registration. Therefore, you have to renew your domain seperately from your webhotel. -If you cancel your domain your webhotel will continue, and if you cancel your webhotel your domain will continue.
International TLD-domains
Most other TLD’s (such as .com, .net, .org, .eu etc.) are handled by us both the first and following years. That means you will receive a combined invoice for both the webhotel and the domain(s) directly from us.
